Mothers’ Instinct

Mothers’ Instinct (2024) follows the unraveling of a seemingly ideal friendship between two mothers, Celine and Alice, who share a tight-knit bond as neighbors and best friends in the 1960s. However, when Alice’s young son dies tragically, the psychological strain intensifies for both women, particularly Celine. Her grief spirals into an obsessive attachment to Alice’s remaining child, Theo, whom she increasingly sees as a replacement for her lost son. This fixation escalates dangerously as Celine manipulates situations to maintain her proximity to Theo, eventually resorting to violence to ensure her vision of a “perfect” family. The tension between loyalty and rivalry builds toward a chilling climax as Celine’s true intentions emerge, transforming her from friend to a sinister force in Alice’s life.
